Nestled into a small hillside overlooking a creek, this Lakewood home was designed and built for a family of four with a modern, clean aesthetic consisting of a wood, stucco, and stone palette. The house uses several methods of green design and construction including advanced insulation, a high-performance roof, accommodation for future solar panels, and passive cooling for the public spaces. Altogether, the home has four bedrooms, four bathrooms, two half bathrooms, an office, and lots of outdoor deck space.
The house is intentionally designed for the way this family lives and entertains, breaking the 4,000 square foot homes into public, semi-public, and private zones. The entrance greets the visitor as the motorized gate allows entry from the street giving way to a motor court serving a three-car garage with a lift for a fourth. The entrance is an intimate gallery which guide the visitor to descend a half level to the first floor with twelve foot ceilings, with a wide kitchen open to family living and dining space, a wine cellar, spacious guest quarters, and a formal living room designed for both media entertainment and quiet conversation which features a wide accordion door opening the space to a cantilevered deck overlooking the creek beyond, extending the living space past the walls during our beautiful Texas nights. The second floor allows access to a spacious rooftop terrace with fireplace overlooking the creek and deck below. The more private areas of the second floor feature an office, three bedrooms, a central utility room, and a master bathroom featuring a spacious shower and steam room, freestanding tub, Italian marble, and lots of natural light.
Other features include imported Italian kitchen cabinetry, central vacuum system, smart lighting systems, high tech security system, custom closets, high quality ipe decking, and a cigar smoke exhaust system in the office.
